Questions

Every Decide sprint answers four questions

The questions build on each other. We answer them in order, so the final recommendation rests on everything that came before it.

01

Should we go at all?

We test whether international growth is the right next move now, given your home-market traction, cash position and team capacity. Sometimes the answer is "not yet", and that answer saves real money.

02

Where first?

We compare your shortlisted markets on demand, competitive intensity, regulation, cost to serve and fit with the people you have. You get one market to lead with and a sequence for the rest.

03

How do we enter?

Direct entry, a local partner, a distributor, an acquisition or a joint venture. We set out the trade-offs of each for your situation and recommend one.

04

What must hold true?

We list the assumptions your plan depends on, how to test each one, and the signals that should make you pause before committing more capital.

Entry modes

Three common routes into a new market

The right route depends on your margins, your timeline and how much control you need. We weigh these starting points in every sprint.

Route
Direct entry
Partner or distributor
Acquisition or joint venture
Speed to first revenue
Slowest
Entity set-up and hiring come before the first deal
Fast
You sell through the partner's existing customers and network
Immediate
Revenue and customers come with the business
Upfront investment
High
Entity, local team, office and launch budget
Low to moderate
Partner enablement, training and co-marketing
Highest
Deal price, advisers and integration costs
Control of brand, pricing and customers
Full control
Shared, and set by the partner agreement
Full with an acquisition, shared in a joint venture
Margin you keep
Full margin once volumes build
Lower, as the partner takes a margin or commission
Full or shared, depending on your stake
Who owns the customer relationship
You do, from the first contract
Mostly the partner, unless the contract says otherwise
You inherit it, along with the existing reputation
Main risk
Costs run ahead of traction while the team ramps up
The partner loses focus or under-delivers on your product
Overpaying, or a difficult integration of teams and systems
Ease of changing course
Moderate
A team and entity to scale back or wind down
High
Contracts can be renegotiated or exited
Low
Hard to unwind once the deal closes
Best suited to
Proven unit economics, a long horizon and appetite to build
Markets where relationships open doors and speed matters
Companies with capital, a clear target and integration capacity
What the Decide sprint gives you
Market sizing, a hiring plan and a break-even case
Partner criteria, a longlist and the terms to negotiate
Target screening and an investment case for the board
Inside the sprint

Six weeks from open question to signed-off decision

Each week builds on the one before it. The work is fast, but nothing is skipped.

Week 1

Frame

We agree the ambition, the constraints, your appetite for risk and exactly what your board will need to see.

Weeks 1–3

Gather

We combine AI-accelerated desk research, proprietary data from our partners, and conversations with operators and buyers in each shortlisted market.

Weeks 3–5

Model

We build the unit economics, investment case and entry-mode comparison, and pressure-test them with your finance lead.

Weeks 5–6

Recommend

We run a decision session with your leadership or board, then deliver the final pack.

Before you book a sprint

The practical questions we hear before a decision sprint begins.

No shortlist yet?

Not a problem. Building the shortlist becomes part of week one. We start with your ambition and constraints, then narrow the field together.

What is a no-go?

It means the evidence points elsewhere, or to a later date. You keep the full analysis, and most clients use it to redirect the budget to a stronger option.

Where does AI fit?

It speeds up the desk research, so more of the budget goes into modelling, local conversations and partner judgment. A partner checks every finding before it shapes the recommendation.

How is it priced?

A fixed fee agreed upfront, with the decision as the deliverable. No hourly billing and no surprise invoices at the end.

What happens next?

The plan is yours to run. Many clients continue into Enter with the same partner, so momentum carries straight into the market.
